About Your Host
I am Jonathan Capel the owner and your host at Torquay Terrace B & B
I am widely travelled and worked and lived in Europe and Asia. I love varied and diverse cultures and welcome people of different nationalities to my B & B and will try where possible to accommodate all needs.
During my travels I have stayed at varying standards of accommodation and of them all I loved the ambiance of the Bed and Breakfasts and have taken what I believe to be the best of them all and translated this into Torquay Terrace Bed and Breakfast with each room being different and offering options but all rooms providing identical provisioning.
I am Australian born and spent my early years raised in Sydney, Australia and was educated in Sydney and Melbourne. I have l travelled extensively throughout this country through cities and towns.
I have knowledge to impart if you are travelling through Australia to help with information about this wonderful country.
Having the travel knowledge of Australia I am aware of the “pit falls” which can befall a traveller which can spoil a wonderful holiday. For example trying to fit too much into too short a period.
If you are visiting Hervey Bay/Wide Bay region why rush? It is too much for many to take an early morning ferry to Fraser Island after having a wonderful day of adventure, then arriving back at the River Heads terminal and feeling tired from your wonderful days experience, to then jump into a car and attempt to drive hours to your next destination.
This is particularly relevant for overseas travellers who are not aware of our roads and distances. Stay another night, wind down from your day of experience and exploration and then depart refreshed for the next leg of your journey.
We want you to have a wonderful experience in our region and not take off to your next destination and being too tired to make it and having to stop at accommodation you had not planned on and worse not making it to where you had intended.
My hobbies, are tennis, travelling, reading and gardening. I am also a keen and devoted family man. My companion is Frankie, an adorable yellow Labrador who lives downstairs with me. The four Bed & Breakfast rooms are upstairs, accessible via a solid outside wooden staircase.
I studied Zoology and Palaeontology at Macquarie University in Sydney and did a Diploma of Education via Monash university in Melbourne. I have taught in numerous schools and TAFE around NSW including within the NSW Corrective Service Department, within the intensive learning division.
Whilst living in China, I taught in schools in Tianjin as the Foreign Expert and was professor at Chengian University in Tianjin where I taught English. My son learnt mandarin with me, but achieved a much higher standard!
I decided to take on the challenge of owning my own Bed and Breakfast after working for the NSW Government and enjoy being my own boss and the challenge of creating a successful business and contributing to tourism Australia by providing excellent accommodation and service.
I look forward to welcoming you to my home.
